How does the Stretch Ripstop version differ from the standard cotton-polyester anorak? This version is significantly more technical and performance-oriented. The Stretch Ripstop fabric includes LYCRA® T400® fibers, which provide permanent mechanical stretch. It is lighter, more tear-resistant, and offers much better freedom of movement during high-intensity activities compared to traditional fabrics.
Is the Ranger Green color IR-protected (NIR)? Yes. The Ranger Green shade is specifically engineered to meet professional military standards. Its NIR reflection values match the dark green used in the official Finnish M05 woodland pattern, ensuring you remain concealed even when viewed through night vision devices.
What are the benefits of the T400® fiber used in this anorak? Unlike traditional elastic fibers, LYCRA® T400® provides “mechanical stretch” that does not wear out or lose its shape over time. It offers excellent moisture management and ensures the anorak maintains its tactical fit even after heavy use and multiple washes.
Is this anorak windproof and breathable? The dense Ripstop weave provides excellent wind resistance while remaining highly breathable. It is designed for active use where you need protection from the elements without overheating or moisture buildup inside the garment.
How quiet is the fabric for stalking or tactical use? Despite its technical durability, the fabric is surprisingly silent. It has a soft, matte finish that doesn’t rustle like many other synthetic “crunchy” fabrics, making it an excellent choice for stalking or reconnaissance.
How should I choose my size? The Ilves Anorak has a tactical yet functional fit. It is designed to be worn over a mid-layer, but because of the Stretch Ripstop fabric, you can often choose your standard size and still enjoy full mobility.
