What makes this a “Long Range Scout” jacket? This jacket is based on the legendary Finnish “Sissitakki” (Guerilla Jacket). It is designed as a “throw-over” thermal layer that can be quickly put on over your existing clothing or tactical gear during observation halts or breaks. It provides instant warmth without the need to remove any layers.

Why is the jacket unquilted? We use Climashield Apex™ insulation, which features a continuous filament construction. This allows the insulation to remain stable without the need for quilting stitches. The benefit is massive: there are no needle holes (cold spots) for wind to penetrate, making the jacket significantly warmer and more windproof than traditional quilted jackets.

Should I choose my normal size or a smaller one? The sizing is intentionally generous. If you plan to use it as originally intended—as a shell over other jackets or gear—choose your normal size. If you intend to wear it as a standalone city jacket with only a light layer underneath, you may consider choosing one size smaller than usual.

Is this jacket reversible or adjustable in length? No. Unlike the original military-issue “Sissitakki,” this is designed as a dedicated, professional black jacket. It is not reversible and does not feature the snaps to shorten the hem. This ensures a clean, consistent, and professional “low profile” silhouette.

How does Climashield Apex™ perform when wet? Unlike down, this high-tech synthetic fiber does not absorb water or collapse. The jacket retains most of its insulating properties even when soaking wet and dries extremely fast, making it ideal for unpredictable spring and winter weather.

Is the pocket lining different? Yes. To provide immediate comfort, the handwarmer pockets are lined with soft fleece. This allows you to warm up frozen hands quickly without needing extra gloves during short breaks
